"Deductive Databases are logic programming systems designed for applications with large quantities of data, the kinds of applications that are at present programmed in SQL embedded in a host language such as C. Deductive databases generalise relational databases by exploiting the expressive power of (potentially recursive) logical rules and of non-atomic data structures, greatly simplifying the task of application programmers."
