The company, ~ 1985, worked on a TopView clone named [create Mondrian [Myhrvold]]. Microsoft was then in the situation of having to hedge its bets (it wasn't clear yet that IBM would eventually trash TopView, and quite rightfully so). Mondrian proved to be of little value to the company, the people bought along with the code, however, were a perfect fit. Nathan Myhrvold would later become Microsoft's CTO as well as the driving force behind Microsoft Research, David Weise was in a way the guy that saved Windows by almost single-handedly porting it to protected mode. ![]() |
