To resolve ambiguities/differences in representations of keys as well as attribute values, certain mechanisms will have to be employed to make aggregation from distributed [create Graph Database]s feasible (chl, 2002-04-21):

  • A small set of shared attribute identifiers (a shared ontology) for attribute keys.
  • Ontology thesauri.
  • Trigram-based comparison for attribute values ("Chris Langreiter" is similar to "Christian Langreiter"), as well as other text "fuzzification" techniques.
  • Iterative query strengthening and relaxation ("Choose" mechanism).
  • Graph structure/neighbourhood comparison/subgraph matching.
