A simple (but powerful) structured communication standard specified by Dave Winer of UserLand. Fairly common datatypes available in almost every programming language (strings, integers, floats, bools, arrays, structs etc.) are encoded in XML and exchanged via HTTP .

What makes XML-RPC so fascinating is a. that it is so intriguingly simple and b. that it's supported by web application development environments like Frontier, the Hop and Zope as well as by every major scripting language, from Visual Basic to Python.
