The VM used in the Flash 9 Player (AVM2) has been open-sourced by Adobe as Tamarin in the fall of 2006. Tamarin contains a couple of interesting tools, e.g. abcdump, a decompiler for ABC files. ABC files are what the AS3 compiler (or alternative compilers like haXe) output and the VM runs (equivalent to Java .class files). As of 2007-02-11 there's an endianness bug in tamarin/shell/DataIO.cpp (non-Win32 platforms are hardcoded to big endianness - a problem on e.g. Intel OS X).
