Aldus has been founded by Paul Brainerd in 1984. The company practically invented DTP by developing the groundbreaking PageMaker application.

PageMaker 1.0 for the Macintosh was released in [create 1985-06], followed by a Windows version in [create 1987-01].

In [create 1994-09], Aldus was taken over by Adobe.
