Started life as a Borland product. [create Quattro 1] was released in [create 1987] and was essentially a cheaper 1-2-3 clone. Quattro Pro 1 in turn was based on Surpass (by Surpass Software), which had been bought by Borland. In 1992 a very impressive first Windows version was released. Two years later, in [create 1994], the product was sold to Novell and soon thereafter to [create Corel].
