1-2-3 clone, sold to Borland. There it reincarnated as Quattro Pro.

Surpass incorporated many innovations over the original 1-2-3 product. For example, it was the first COWS (character oriented windows) user interface in the spreadsheet wars. It allowed multiple files to be opened in overlapping windows, included a pulldown menu and dialog box interface, had a toolbar, and mouse support. It offered powerful graphics, linking between sheets, and was the fastest performing of the spreadsheet products of the time.

Surpass was written by Robert W. Warfield's company Surpass Software in Modula-2 using their M2SDS software development tool.
