Wooha! Six Degrees-Background-Informationen senza fine, zum Grossteil allerdings als .TIF(!). Und hoffentlich bedient sich das Produkt etwas spektakulärer als es aussieht (David Ness: "So far everything I have seen from them, including their Screen Shots, looks quite remarkably unremarkable." — in comments-2002-02-14) — aber vielleicht trifft der Vergleich mit Google ja tatsächlich. Denn spektakulär aussehen tut Google wohl auch nicht wirklich.

Ich habe es geschafft, Jini anzulegen. Man sollte eventuell ein Frontend Wiki erzeugen, dass sich mit Architekturen im Bereich Services/Web Applikations etc. beschaeftigt.

RDF/XML/Lisp/Prolog: Ja, wenn die Leute mehr ueber ihren Tellerrand schauen wuerden, koennten sie sehen, dass andere ihre Probleme bereits geloest haben. Aber die Informatik zeichnet sich dadurch aus, dass alle Leute alles wieder neu erfinden.

Was ist ein "Frontend Wiki"?

ad Swing/SWT: Natürlich kann man auch mit Swing ganz possierliche UIs bauen - das kann man mit jedem Toolkit, das einem setPixel zur Verfügung stellt ;-) Ziel muss es wohl eher sein, dass eine Applikation schon von Anfang an einigermassen gut aussieht ... Mit Frontend Wiki meine ich ein Einstiegswiki das auf die anderen Wikis zu dem Thema verweist und kurz zusammenfasst.
(REBOL, .NET, J2EE, Jini, ...) Damit man einen Ueberblick bekommt, jeder koennte dann da das beschreiben, das er benutz.

ad Swing/SWT: Ja, ich glaube metamorphosis soll als Look and Feel fuer Swing kommen und ja, die Leute bei Sun sind offenbar Unix Entwicker, das sieht man am sehr haesslichen Standardaussehen von Swing das viele Applikationen schlecht aussehen laesst. Microsoft macht das mit [create VisualStudio] sehr viel besser. Sun sollte nette icons und ein gutes Look and Feel bei Swing standardmaessig einstellen.

Zu welchem Thema genau? Web Services? Services im Allgmeinen? BTW, ich habe mal angefangen vanilla-linking-guidelines zu schreiben, wobie die natürlich alles andere als unumstösslich sind ;-)

Web Applikations, da Web Services wohl auch nur eine Architektur sind, das zu machen. Oder eine Extension. Den Wink mit dem Zaunpfahl habe ich verstanden. Das mit den vielen Links ist mehr [create Everything2] Style, da wird lieber erstmal alles verlinkt und spaeter detailierter ausgefuehrt.

Naja, bald kann man was sehen, die Sachen laufen eigentlich Intranet maessig. [create www.tetrax.de] ist ein sehr rudimentaeres
System und nur der Wiki Teil davon. Ausserdem spielen wir gerade an dem Wiki Teil rum, um noch ein paar praktische Dinge reinzubasteln.

ad "The Link is mine": Habe nur ich das nicht verstanden was ESCAPE mit Links zu tun hat oder geht das auch anderen so ?

Die Argumentation finde ich schon eher abenteuerlichst ;-)

Und Solent ist so eine Art Enterprise-Wiki (u.a.), hab' ich das richtig verstanden?

Solent is ein KM system, im Prinzip. Der Kern ist die Einordnung von Menschen in eine Ontologie zum Finden von Experten. Dabei werden Cluster gebildet: z.B. (Oracle, JDBC, Java), (Prolog, KM, Implementierung) , (XML, REBOL, XSLT) und diese einem Experten zugeordnet (mehrere), um einen hoeheren semantischen Inhalt zu erreichen.

In diese Ontologie kann man dann aber auch alles andere einordnen (Dokumente, Buecher, URLS, Weblogs, Wiki, Projekte, Seminare, Prozesse, ...) und einheitlich drauf zugreifen von leicht von allem auf alles verlinken.

Mich wuerde ja ein MetaWiki Space interessieren.

Are there any links to something that might give a clue about why Six Degrees is getting so much hype? So far everything I have seen from them, including their Screen Shots, looks quite remarkably unremarkable. And I haven't seen word one anywhere that suggests any particular insights about the people, messages, files, ... complex.

As we used to say (it was a theme of an American ad campaign) `Where's the beef?'
