Jonathan Schwartz: "[...] Sun runs its ERP implementation on a partially used 5 year old computer."
Halblustige Rückschlüsse auf die Entwicklung des Sun'schen Geschäftsvolumens left as an exercise for the reader.
Nicht unbedenkenswert aber: "[...] [F]ree software doesn't decrease revenue - it amplifies adoption."

   | slauti 7212 days AGO very elegantly irritating, more of the "do no evil mantra", which isn't quite finished until those boys will be able to come out with a universally acceptable (and not only waspy) definition of evil, I fear.
To use Marc A. as the indicator of what the guy want's to tell us, is smart and dumb at once. For the halfknowing Marc was the first hero of the free consumer software over consumer shareware trend and on the other hand the first big loser of the "not understanding platforms" trend. So, hey. |

   | chris 7211 days AGO interesting, I surely didn't read !BE out of/into it.
adoption amplification is a catchy phrase and has worked out well in some cases (e.g. eclipse, or in the semifree dept., java). in the case of post-java sun it remains to be seen whether there's more to it than good jonathan engaging in wishful thinking. |
