Now I'd bet that your observation is based on some substance. If I had to, I'd guess underlying it all is defensiveness and self-protection i.e. to have material accessible via 'net is to make it discoverable.

As I'm flying in stealth mode I know all about being coy ... I'll gladly give away the cream but know I risk giving away not only the cow but the whole farm!

Sorry, maybe I'm being dense; in what way is that the scenario TimBL was trying to obviate? Could you elaborate a bit?
