bunnie on the OLPC XO-1: "If I were in the third world, I probably would say screw the laptop, I'm taking the backlight bar out and lighting my home with it!"

From my only (& brief hands-on) encounter with an XO-1, the only thing I can say is that it's inspirational - on many levels.

Today, a first Wikia Search alpha is slated to be unveiled:

Matt Mullenweg: "Wikia Search is pretty darn cool."

My take: There's really nothing worth writing home about it right now, but on the other hand there's the chance it'll improve quite rapidly once the feedback loops are in place. Let's re-evaluate in 2 months (2008-03-07).

Currently the most interesting aspect of Wikia Search might be the availability of Visvo's index, which is pretty good.
